Ice601: 3 x P-drop f.g. ice I + 3% by vol 1-micron Al2O3

Made from run 600 material, same preparation method as 595, 599.

Conditions: all steps P = 50 MPa, T=210 K
s = 3.2 MPa step (1)
s = 4.8 MPa step (2)
s = 7.2 MPa step (3)
s = 3.2 MPa step (4a), (4b)
s = 4.8 MPa step (5)
s = 7.2 MPa step (6)

After: looks more or less perfect

Legend: Upper graph of each pair is motor speed V (proportional to edot); lower graph is load (in volts). Translate motor V to edot thus: for 100:1 gearing, V0.05 ≈ 3e-8/s; for 10:1 gearing, V0.05≈3e-7/s. Load to stress translation for ice601 is 0.245 MPa/mV, with a ~5 mV zero offset. Horizontal scale is time. 5000≈14 hrs.

e=0.1800 2223 hrs 5/23.
e=0.1635 1334 hrs 5/23.
e=0.1332 1031 hrs 5/22.

e=0.1006 2129 hrs 5/21
e=0.0884 1831 hrs 5/20. End of step (4b).
e=0.0844 0559 hrs. First part of step (4b). No sign of work hardening after 1.5%, so the working plot below is still in force.
e=0.0783 1624 hrs. End of step (4a). Stop for a zero check. Zero just fine.
e=0.0753 0617 hrs 5/19, start of step (4), which reproduces the conditions of step (1).
working plot as of mid-601(4)
e=0.0701 1635 hrs 5/18. Entirety of step (3). Log-log slope of first three steps is nearly linear at n=3, see most recent working plot. There is a slight curvature downwards, which is consistent with a work hardening and/or knee model. Deconvoluting these two effects with just one or two more experiments may not be possible. I can also see an argument that it might not be necessary--that the knee must exist in any case.

1050 hrs 5/18. Beginning of step (3). edot appears to still be seeking steady state, even though a full 1% of strain has gone by in this step. Taking so long to reach ss is not very GSS-like, and probably can't be blamed entirely on the machine. Quite curious to me.

Apparent n based on current conditions has just fallen below 3 wrt end of previous step.

e=0.0397 2103 hrs 5/17. Entirety of step (2)
working plot as of 601(2)
e=0.0348 1658 hrs 5/17. Start of step (2), begun this morning. edot has been steady for the past 0.5% strain, gives n≈3 wrt step (1).
e=0.0191 1857 hrs 5/15 (Sat). End step (1). Step satisfactorily demonstrates reproducibility wrt 595 so no need to strain further. Remaining run steps will be faster so will wait until Monday morning.
e=0.0110

0555 hrs 5/15. Start of step (1). If it holds right here, it would be exactly on the 595 line.
